THE UNDERWORLD
Family names carry weight. Alliances are valuable. Betrayal is expensive. Organized crime lives beneath respectable society.
SAINT DENIS · 1933
The frontier survived. The world moved on. Automobiles cut through streets once ruled by hoofbeats, jazz spills from crowded clubs, powerful families build empires behind polished doors—and the supernatural never left.
The Scarlet Society blends the atmosphere of Red Dead with a living 1933 world: automobiles beside horses, old money beside new crime, custom systems beside familiar frontier life, and the supernatural still moving beneath it all.
Family names carry weight. Alliances are valuable. Betrayal is expensive. Organized crime lives beneath respectable society.
The modern world has not erased the old one. Supernatural bloodlines and ancient powers remain hidden beneath the lights of 1933.
Saint Denis embraces automobiles and nightlife while ranches, horses and smaller towns preserve the frontier beyond the city.
Everyone belongs to something. A family. A business. A badge. A secret.
1933 is an age of reinvention. Old fortunes collide with new empires, tradition with modernity, and everyone must decide what they are willing to become.
In The Scarlet Society, status is more than the money in your pocket. It is the name whispered when you enter a room, the business card tucked into a coat pocket, the favor someone still owes you, and the reputation that arrives before you do.
The county is built for intertwined stories. Socialites need businesses. Businesses need workers. Criminal organizations need fronts, contacts and information. Law needs witnesses and investigations. The supernatural needs a modern world in which to hide. Every layer gives another layer something to roleplay with.
Established families guard generations of reputation while ambitious newcomers use business, politics, crime and opportunity to make their names.
A polished suit does not make a clean man. Clubs, hotels, garages and private offices can hide agreements that never reach a ledger.
Who trusts you, fears you, owes you or wants you gone shapes your story as much as money ever will.
Long-form, character-driven roleplay puts consequences, relationships, rivalries and personal stories first.
1933 changes the streets, the technology, the fashions and the institutions of the county. It does not replace Whisper Hollow's supernatural foundation.
The established supernatural system carries forward into The Scarlet Society. The castes, powers, weaknesses, forms, Keepers, progression and supernatural roleplay remain part of the same world. The era changes how characters live around those truths—not what those truths are.
A vampire can step from an automobile. A witch can own a nightclub. A Fae can move through high society. A Hybrid can belong to a criminal family. A Werewolf can wear a badge. Supernatural identity is an important part of a character, but it does not have to be their entire identity.
The move into 1933 is not a supernatural reset. Existing caste identities and the established supernatural framework remain intact in The Scarlet Society.
Modern life creates new places to hide. Hospitals, clubs, government offices, businesses, criminal families and ordinary homes can all contain something older than they appear.
Abilities exist to create roleplay, not guarantee victory. Preparation, weaknesses, consequences and the reactions of other characters remain important.
Seeing something unusual does not automatically make a character an expert on it.
Characters should learn supernatural information through roleplay, research, observation, trusted teachers, discovered texts and lived experience. Suspicion is not the same thing as knowledge.
Rituals, ingredients, artifacts, shrines, hidden locations, transformations, rare materials, curses, blessings and supernatural investigations can all create stories beyond direct combat.
The Scarlet Society retains the supernatural castes already established in Whisper Hollow. The setting has moved forward; the supernatural foundation has not been discarded.
Each supernatural caste has access to its own private Discord channel. These spaces are available to verified members of that caste for caste-specific information, guidance and communication. Channel names remain private.
Whisperers between worlds. Witches are tied to ritual, preparation, intuition, ancestral knowledge and the unseen currents running beneath ordinary life.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Old hunger in a modern age. Vampires carry supernatural gifts alongside the weaknesses and consequences that make those gifts meaningful.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Shifters whose supernatural nature exists beside the person they choose to be. Their caste does not dictate their profession, morality or allegiance.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Feline shifters remain part of the established supernatural world, carrying their own forms, traits, strengths and limitations into the new era.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Bear shifters remain one of the county's established supernatural bloodlines, with the same underlying system continuing into 1933.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.A supernatural caste built around an identity unlike the traditional shifter bloodlines. Their established mechanics and progression remain part of The Scarlet Society.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Hybrids carry two supernatural lineages. They may combine two castes, but only one may be a were-creature. They select a limited portion of each lineage's gifts rather than receiving the complete potential of two pure castes, and they carry the weaknesses that come with both.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Fae remain part of the supernatural world with their established elemental abilities and transformations. Their forms include rabbit, goat and hawk, alongside their tiny form and ability to fly. Fae do not have wings.
A private caste channel is available to members of this caste.Human characters remain essential to the world. A character does not need supernatural power to hold influence, uncover secrets, build an empire or become dangerous.
Human stories are not secondary supernatural stories. Those who pursue, investigate or confront the supernatural create another path into the hidden world. Knowledge still needs to be gained through story rather than assumed.
Discovery, preparation and consequence matter.Hybrid characters exist between two lineages rather than becoming a complete version of both. The limitation is part of the identity: adaptability comes with inherited vulnerabilities and choices about which gifts define the character.
The Keepers remain part of the supernatural framework. The Keeper area is for caste selection and mission turn-in rather than a general gathering or camping location. Supernatural answers should be discovered in-character where appropriate, while administrative role changes remain handled through the proper staff process.
Supernatural growth should feel like part of a character's story. Required items, sources, rituals, missions, transformations and discoveries create reasons to interact with the world instead of treating powers as a menu detached from roleplay.
The underworld is organized, ambitious and dangerous—but criminal roleplay is about far more than pulling a trigger.
Create influence through relationships and story.
Legitimate fronts, underground operations, favors and information create deeper criminal stories.
Deals between families can create protection, opportunity and uneasy peace.
There is no lawless territory. Criminal power exists alongside active law and government.
A name can buy access long before cash changes hands.
Trust is earned slowly and lost in a single night.
Information, favors and relationships are assets.
What your family becomes depends on what others remember.
A criminal empire can wear a respectable face. Clubs, garages, restaurants, hotels and other businesses create places where legitimate and underground stories naturally cross.
Not every victory comes from violence. Secrets, favors, introductions, blackmail, witnesses and leverage can be more valuable than a weapon.
Criminal families may be built through blood, loyalty, circumstance or shared ambition. What matters is what the name means—and what members are willing to do for it.
The county needs more than mob bosses. The working world of 1933 gives characters reasons to meet, build reputations, make money and become part of somebody else's story.
A business should be more than a place to collect a paycheck. Owners can host events, form partnerships, hire staff, compete with rivals and become fixtures in the community. Employees can build careers without ever needing to become business owners themselves.
Clubs, lounges, restaurants and entertainment.
Garages, mechanics and the growing automobile trade.
Hospitality, luxury, travelers and secrets.
Doctors, nurses and emergency care.
Newspapers, photographers and public stories.
Shops, specialty businesses and commerce.
The frontier economy remains alive beyond the city.
Investigate crime and protect a changing county.
Jobs are intended to create interaction, progression and identity—not simply provide a paycheck. Whether a character wants a quiet working life, a public-facing career, a position of authority or the beginnings of an empire, employment should give them reasons to know the people around them.
Clubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and entertainment create social hubs where staff, performers, owners and patrons build stories together.
The arrival of vehicles creates room for mechanics, garages, sales, transport and a distinctly 1933 layer of commerce.
Medical careers support everyday emergencies, long-form injury roleplay and a profession built around trust and community.
Public service offers structured careers in enforcement, investigation, justice, administration and civic life.
Reporters and publications can document the county, advertise businesses, cover events and turn rumors into headlines.
1933 does not erase the countryside. Horses, ranches and traditional work remain meaningful beyond Saint Denis.
Shops and service businesses give characters places to become regulars, employees to build careers and owners a reputation to protect.
Not every character needs a badge, title or business. The economy leaves room for working characters to earn, save and decide where their story goes.
The county is designed to give characters something to work toward. Where you live, what you drive, the horse you trust, the job you take and the money you save should all become pieces of your story.
Homes are priced according to what the property actually offers. Size, location, features and overall value are considered so housing feels like meaningful progression rather than an arbitrary price tag.
From modest places to more desirable properties, a home can become a character's private refuge, family gathering place, business connection or part of the life they have worked to build.
Automobiles are part of the new era and part of everyday county life. Vehicles bring a modern identity to Saint Denis while opening new opportunities for travel, business, status and automotive roleplay.
The presence of cars does not turn the county into a modern-day setting. They are integrated into the 1933 atmosphere and exist alongside the world RedM already does so well.
The automobile has arrived, but the horse has not disappeared. Rural communities, ranches, wilderness travel and characters who simply prefer the old ways keep horses firmly rooted in the county.
That contrast is intentional: polished cars under Saint Denis lights and horses on the roads beyond them.
The economy is built around progression, usefulness and long-term roleplay. Work should matter, purchases should feel achievable without becoming meaningless, and major goals should give characters something worth saving toward.
Businesses, employment, housing, transportation and everyday spending are meant to connect instead of existing as isolated systems.
The county combines RedM's frontier foundation with custom systems that support the 1933 setting and the style of roleplay Scarlet Society is built around. The goal is not to add features simply for the sake of having them—it is to make systems that create more reasons to interact, work, explore and build stories.
The Scarlet Society is designed to be welcoming to new players as well as experienced roleplayers. You do not need to know every system, every supernatural secret or every corner of the map before you begin. Learn through play, ask questions through the proper channels, meet people and let your character grow into the world.
The Scarlet Society has no lawless territory. Civilization may be imperfect and contested—but authority exists throughout the county.
1933 law roleplay should feel investigative as well as reactive. Organized families create longer cases, businesses create paper trails, witnesses create uncertainty, and political influence can complicate what first looked simple.
Criminals are not expected to lose every story, and law is not expected to ignore crime. The goal is a world where both sides generate meaningful consequences and future roleplay for one another.
Automobiles move faster. Money changes hands quietly. Powerful names can open doors. Investigators must learn to follow more than hoofprints.
Investigations, patrols, warrants and organized crime cases create ongoing roleplay.
Political, civil and legal institutions give the county structure beyond the badge.
Families may become powerful, but evidence, witnesses, rivals and mistakes can bring consequences.
Law and crime exist to create stories together, not simply defeat one another.
Saint Denis represents automobiles, nightlife, wealth, industry and social change.
Beyond the city, horses, ranches, smaller towns and wilderness preserve the Red Dead atmosphere.
Luxury, automobiles, clubs, hotels, organized crime and high society make the city the beating heart of the modern era.
Beyond the city's glow, communities move at a different pace. Local businesses, ranches and familiar faces preserve the intimacy of frontier life.
The county still has places where electric lights do not reach. Old roads, forests, swamps and mountains leave room for danger, secrets and the supernatural.
Modernity did not replace the frontier. It grew around it.
Community storytelling is what makes the county feel alive. Not every memorable moment needs to come from staff or a scheduled event. Businesses, families, law, civilians and supernatural characters should all have room to create stories that other players can step into.
Content creators are welcome to share their stories.
Community clips can be submitted through Discord for social media features.
Server events and player-led arcs help keep the world moving.
The Scarlet Society comes alive after dark. Clubs, restaurants, private parties, hotel bars and back rooms create a social world where introductions can become alliances—and a casual drink can become a dangerous agreement.
Dress well, make introductions, host parties, celebrate successes and let characters build reputations outside of gunfights and emergencies.
The public sees champagne and polished brass. Behind closed doors, business deals, criminal negotiations and supernatural secrets can unfold.
Grand openings, galas, races, live entertainment, society gatherings and themed nights give businesses reasons to become destinations.
Come for the music. Stay because somebody important noticed your name.
You do not need to arrive as a kingpin, millionaire or supernatural legend. Some of the strongest stories begin with a character who simply needs a job, a room and a reason to stay.
NEW-PLAYER FRIENDLY: You do not need years of RedM experience to belong here. The whitelist and community resources are there to help you understand the world before you step into it.
Give your character wants, flaws, loyalties and room to change. You do not need every chapter written before you arrive.
Take a job, visit businesses, meet neighbors, attend events and allow connections to form naturally.
Power, wealth, influence and enemies are more satisfying when other characters have watched you earn them.
Build stories other people can interact with. A rivalry, business problem, missing shipment or strange rumor can become RP for an entire circle of characters.
